It’s the best thing ever

A few things before I get back to it.

Writing is top-notch. Characters, awesome. Story, wonderful. Graphics, fabulous.

Though I’ve played many games where everything is destroyed for the hero(ine) at the beginning this is the first time I’ve almost cried. I cared about the NPCs. I felt a connection.

The dialogue has made me LOL more than once. I love the NPC interactions. I love the approval system and being able to give prezzies. It all feels new somehow as if they’ve reinvented the wheel. This game is one of the best things I’ve ever played. I am not even sure if I loved Mass Effect this much.

SQUEE! I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

Hello new character!

It’s here! My copy of Dragon Age arrived and I was so well-behaved I didn’t even open it up until I’d made dinner and mostly pretended to do my work for the day.

I’m such a good girl. Really. I deserve a cookie.

Or not, since I did have a to-do list that needed accomplishing before I actually got around to playing, but I convinced myself that just installing the game wouldn’t hurt. And then I had to configure it. And connect to the server. And then, well, hitting play was just a test run, you see. To make sure everything was working.

The part where I kinda made a character was less excusable, except oh my God can you blame me? Look at that! She’s awesome! Clearly I had no choice except spending the next fifteen minutes adjusting the size of her nose and the shape of her eyes and the precise color and placement of her tattoos, because well…

Errr. I had a reason. I can’t remember it right now, but I did!

I was actually pretty thrilled, because most of the promo stuff I read seemed to indicate a male character, but it’s possible that was only about their target audience. I was excited to play this game, but I am not ashamed to admit I’m more excited to get to play as a chick. Girls wanna save the world too, okay?

Speaking of…I’m gonna get back to saving the world. But not until I post this incredibly awesome screenshot of just how pretty this game is. (Click for big beautiful screenshot of awesomeness!)

The quest for Dragon Age

So I forced my children both to shower this morning, did the same, and dragged them out to Plaza Satelite. I could’ve gone to La Cupside, which is actually my favorite mall, but the girl had a gift card for Liverpool (which is an upscale department store). I had made her clean her closet before taking her shopping, so she was raring to go and at PS, I can also stop at Game Planet. Since I am not a mall-loving kind of woman, I’m all about killing two birds with one stone.

So we hightailed it out of the house with high hopes. The girl got a cute pair of jeans, a new top, and two new belts. Score!

For me? Grim news. Though Game Planet listed today on the preorder, when I went in, they told me to… check back next week. Ahhh, the horror! So I am home, empty-handed. I did have a nice time with my kids, but you know, the name of this blog is not: I had a nice time with my kids. It’s The Dragon Age Blog and I am out of luck today.

How’d you guys do? Anyone playing yet?
